It has been over a year since Ramah in the Rockies committed to creating a Jewish response to addiction and mental health challenges in Colorado. A failure to launch, trauma-related issues, and addiction are as common in the American Jewish community as in the rest of society, yet there are limited faith-based programs that meet the needs of Jewish at-risk young adults. As a Jewish community, we have an obligation to provide culturally and religiously relevant treatment options for these individuals. We are excited to announce that BaMidbar Wilderness Therapy, North America’s first wilderness therapy program provided in a Jewish framework, will be opening its doors in January, 2018.
We are having our first public meeting in over a year, and would love to see you there. While we will always be raising funds for scholarships, we are turning our attention to community outreach. We will use this meeting to share exciting updates about BaMidbar, with the hopes that those who are there can become advocates and help us spread the word. As a Jewish community, we have an obligation to provide culturally and religiously relevant treatment options. By providing a wilderness-based treatment program in a Jewish framework, we will change the lives of Jewish young adults in our community. Please join us on April 26th at the home of Jeffrey Bain and Rabbi Anat Moskowitz, to learn how you can be a leader in this endeavor.
