Course Details

Base Denver, in partnership with BaMidbar, invites community-minded young professionals to step out of their comfort zone and celebrate Shabbat in the backcountry. Through a wellness-based and resilience-focused approach, we will pair backpacking and adventure with Jewish learning and conversations around mental health and well-being. Join us to learn, connect, and explore our personal relationships with resilience, identity, and the outdoors.

Who It’s For

This program is open to all young Jewish professionals (ages 22-40) in the Greater Denver area. This trip is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, if you’ve never previously participated in a Base DNVR event, or else a way to deepen your connection with the Base community. No previous hiking or backpacking experience necessary.

Location

This trip will take place in the beautiful Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Golden, Colorado. Golden Gate Canyon State Park is situated on the traditional lands of the Cheyenne people, and is located 45 minutes from Denver. This 12,119-acre Front Range park was established in 1960 and includes 42 miles of hiking trails.

Pre-Trip Meeting: In advance of the weekend, we will have one vitual group meeting in order to make space for inital introductions, questions, and to review logistics and packing details.

In the evening we’ll bring in shabbat together with songs and reflection, excited to spend the weekend with one another.
